Step Into the Fire

A Brief Introduction

This video was recorded on a typical summer afternoon in Georgia—blazing hot and accompanied by a symphony of cicadas. I wanted to speak with you directly and share a short video introducing myself and what Writing Through Fire is all about.

While the essays, poems, and reflections here speak for themselves, some of you might appreciate having a face to the name. I’ve included a full transcript below in case the cicada buzz gets in the way.

Hey. My name's Drew Gaither, and this is Writing Through Fire—my Substack that chronicles different topics ranging from mental health, politics, spirituality, and essentially how we navigate through this world, and specifically how I've navigated through this world.

I've gone through a lot of experiences in my life that have shaped me in ways that have both, I would say, strengthened my development, but at the same time, I feel like people shouldn't have had to have gone through them. But that's neither here nor there. I've gone through them. I will continue to go through trials and tribulations, but the goal through this journey that we call life is to come out through the other end triumphant.

So, if you are interested in any of these topics, please feel free to poke around my Substack and give it a subscribe if you want to stay on top of all of my updates. And I hope that you will stick around and that you find interest in some of my different works. I feature poems, essays, different reflection pieces, and I've also been working on two different memoirs, and I expect to have some different excerpts from those as well, as well as maybe some more scholarly work that I've worked on in my time at the university.

So, yeah, welcome to Writing Through Fire.
